SpaceX makes vertical landing of spacecraft possible

SpaceX an US based company has created history by successfully vertically landing it rocket Falcon9 upright on Monday night. First time such a huge goal is achieved.

The launch and landing of the spacecraft where set in Cape Canavereal, Florida. The  two site were at a distance of 10km and were the first from SpaceX the private US.Spaceflight company since one of its rocket exploded in june during its launching.

SpaceX founder Mr Elon Musk tweeted 11 satellites deployed to target orbit and Falcon has landed back at Cape Canaveral. Headed to LZ-1. Welcome back, baby!” after the touch down.

The company SpaceX  has not attempted to land a rocket on land before hence it makes  the companies first successful attempt to recover a rocket from an orbit flight. In SpaceX previous attempts the landing base was a floating landing pad which were all unsuccessful. But this times the company is not only successful in its attempt but it has created a history.  The 15-story first stage of rocket used to propel the payload to 62 miles or so until the second stage takes over  successfully landed on Earth again at a prepared landing zone.

SpaceX has come close to landing a rocket but until now, never actually pulled the feat off. Blue Origin, founded by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, stuck a landing last month — but Musk pointed out that was a suborbital trip, the requirements for which are considerably different.

“It’s a revolutionary moment,” for SpaceX said  Elon Musk who told after the landing when he was asked by the reporter regarding the landing. “No one has ever brought a booster, an orbital-class booster, back intact.”Elon Musk also said that  he ran outside the control room of SpaceX and  heard the sonic boom of the incoming  booster just as it landed; he thought that the booster  had exploded and SpaceX has failed again but he got the historical news of happiness when he went back into Launch Control and saw the video recording of the incoming booster and the pictures of the standing rocket.”I can’t quite believe it,” he added. “It’s quite shocking.” Elon Musk said the landing appeared close to perfect and the company “could not have asked for a better mission or a better day.”

SpaceX Development of a  reusable rockets is very important for lowering the cost of space travel and satellite launches, which could make space tourism and a trip to Mars more feasible and economic.

The launch’s payload, 11 ORBCOMM satellites destined to join others in the communications company’s network, was also successfully deployed with no problems.

On June 28,  SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket carrying a Dragon spacecraft which was filled with  cargo for the International Space Station exploded a few minutes after the takeoff.

Initially the launch of the rocket was originally scheduled on Sunday night, but was delayed by the SpaceX because there was a 10 percent better chance of a successful landing on Monday night, according to Elon Musk.

The concept behind this successful landing is briefly depicted in the following image
